Konya stage rental starts with a question of scale. Konya is Turkey's largest province by area, so "an event in Konya" can mean a square in the city centre, a lakeside district festival or a factory on the open plain, sometimes hours apart. BernStage delivers stage, sound, lighting, LED screen and truss packages in all 81 provinces of Turkey, planned and dispatched from Istanbul. This guide covers what international planners and agencies should know before producing an event in Konya.
Konya stage rental: how a production is planned
The short version: pin down the exact location first, then build one technical plan around it. The key variables are:
- Location: city centre, district town or rural site, which drives travel time and crew accommodation.
- Event character: concert, civic ceremony, trade show, cultural programme or corporate meeting.
- Infrastructure: mains power, ground type, loading area and vehicle access.
- Schedule: departure from Istanbul, build, rehearsal and load-out.
Our nationwide stage rental guide explains how out-of-town jobs work, and stage rental in Turkey covers the equipment.
Typical events in Konya
- Municipal concerts and square events: summer evenings, holidays and national celebrations, usually with a roof stage, wide-coverage PA and an upstage LED wall.
- Cultural and spiritual programmes: Konya's Sufi heritage, especially the December commemoration period, brings concerts of Sufi music and cultural performances. These call for restrained, warm lighting and natural, transparent sound rather than effects-heavy design.
- Trade and industrial events: agricultural machinery and automotive supply industries are strong here, which means product launches, dealer meetings, fair stands and plant openings.
- University events: graduations and spring festivals in stadiums, on campus grounds or in sports halls.
- District festivals: harvest, culture and lake festivals, often on open ground with limited infrastructure.
Indoor venues: arenas, congress and fair centres
Much of Konya's event calendar happens indoors. Large sports arenas host concerts and graduations, congress and cultural centres host symposia, award nights and cultural programmes, and the fairgrounds host trade meetings and launches. Here a roof stage gives way to modular decking, ground-support truss towers or truss flown from the venue's approved rigging points. Ceiling height limits LED wall size and lighting angles, reflective arena surfaces make PA placement and aiming more demanding, and fairgrounds usually set fixed build and break windows, so trucks and crew are timed to those slots.
Steppe climate: sun, wind, dust and cold nights
The Konya plain is wide and flat, so open sites have little shelter from wind. That makes wind management the main safety topic for any roof stage: continuous anemometer readings, flown LED and PA loads and ballast set to the wind limits from the roof manufacturer and the structural calculation, and side scrims opened when needed. See our guide to outdoor roof stages for detail.
Summers are dry with strong sun. We shift heavy build work to early morning and late afternoon, keep LED walls and consoles out of direct sun before the show, and put FOH and monitor positions in enclosed tents, because wind-blown dust from dry ground is hard on fan-cooled electronics. Temperatures drop sharply after sunset even in July. Winters bring frost and occasional fog, which affect both road safety and early-morning builds.
Logistics from Istanbul and timing
Konya is roughly 650–700 km from Istanbul by road depending on the route. That is 7–8 hours by car and close to a full working day for a loaded truck once mandatory driver rest is included, so we add a day to the schedule compared with cities near Istanbul:
| Day | Work | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Show minus 2 | Trucks and crew depart Istanbul | Evening arrival, hotel |
| Show minus 1 | Stage, roof, PA, lighting and LED build | Lighting focus in the evening |
| Show day | Line check, rehearsal, show | Crew on site throughout |
| After show | Load-out | Return the next day |
District events add travel time from the city and accommodation can be limited, while hotel occupancy peaks during the December commemorations, so crew rooms should be booked early. Konya is also about 300 km from Antalya across the Taurus Mountains, which makes combined tours possible; in winter, snow and ice on the mountain pass must be built into the plan. For the coast, see our Antalya event production guide.
Permits, power and site layout
Public squares and parks require permission from the relevant municipality, usually applied for by the organiser; we provide the stage dimensions, site plan, generator position and power load. On district squares and rural sites, mains capacity is often insufficient, so plan for a silenced generator with a backup feed. On soil or grass, spreader plates go under stage legs, and family-heavy audiences call for a clear barrier line, seating areas, emergency exits and an ambulance lane drawn into the layout from the start.
