Rain in any season, fog on the plateaus and very little flat ground: those are the conditions that shape stage rental in Trabzon. Whether you are organising a summer plateau festival, a concert of Black Sea folk music, a university graduation or a corporate meeting in a city hotel, a Trabzon job needs a different kind of preparation from a stage on the Aegean or Mediterranean coast. BernStage builds stages in all 81 provinces of Turkey, planning every project from Istanbul and sending crew and equipment along the Black Sea coastal highway. Here is what international planners and agencies should know.
Stage rental Trabzon: the short answer
For any open-air event in Trabzon, plan on a roofed stage by default. Rain cannot be ruled out even in midsummer, so the stage roof, a covered FOH tent, protected cable runs and weather-rated outdoor LED panels are core parts of the plan, not extras. The process:
- Site survey: slope, ground condition, vehicle access and power.
- Transport: equipment leaves Istanbul around two days before the build, earlier for plateau sites.
- Build: usually one full day in the city, longer on sloping or remote ground.
- Show and load-out: with weather monitored throughout the day.

Events that need a stage in Trabzon
- Plateau (yayla) festivals: traditional summer gatherings in July and August on high meadows that can draw thousands of people, usually on grass, on a slope and far from mains power.
- Black Sea folk music concerts: horon dancing and kemençe music bring the audience right up to the stage, so front-of-stage safety and clear sound across a dancing crowd matter.
- Municipal events: concerts and celebrations in central squares and on open ground along the coast; see our guide to public square concert production.
- Graduations: June ceremonies that should always have an indoor fallback because of rain.
- Football celebrations: fan events that can gather large crowds at short notice and need a fast build and a solid security plan.
- Corporate events and weddings: hotel meetings, dealer events and large wedding celebrations.
Rain, humidity and fog
The Black Sea coast sees rainfall throughout the year, with autumn usually the wettest season. Humidity is high and fog can roll over the plateaus within minutes. Our standard approach for Trabzon:
- Stage roof to protect performers and flown sound and lighting, with side and rear sheeting against wind-driven rain only where the roof design allows it, since sheeting adds significant wind load and must be lowered as wind rises. See roofed outdoor stages for options.
- Cables raised and routed away from standing water, with connections in weatherproof boxes and distribution boards with proper earthing and residual-current protection.
- FOH tent with closed sides, plus covers for backstage and generator areas.
- Only weather-rated outdoor LED panels, with processors kept under cover.
- Path and exit lighting planned separately for foggy plateau nights.
- Wind readings checked against the limits set by the stage and roof manufacturer or structural engineer, and a pre-agreed decision plan stating who stops the show, and when, for rain, high wind or lightning.
Sloping ground and plateau builds
Flat ground is scarce in Trabzon, even in the city. On plateaus the ground is both sloping and soft after rain, so stage legs are levelled with adjustable systems, set on load-spreading plates, and temporary ground protection is laid for vehicles and pedestrians. Plateau roads are narrow, winding and unpaved in places, and full-size trucks cannot reach every site. Equipment may need to be transferred to smaller trucks along the way, which typically adds half a day to a day to the schedule. Mains power is usually limited or absent, so a generator, fuel supply and backup generator are planned from the start.
Logistics from Istanbul
Trabzon is roughly 1,050–1,100 km from Istanbul by road, normally inland as far as Samsun and then via Ordu and Giresun along the Black Sea coastal highway. That is around 12–13 hours by car and usually two days for a loaded truck once driver rest is included. In the city centre, steep and narrow streets mean truck access points must be agreed in advance. Your own team can fly into Trabzon Airport, which sits right on the edge of the city with frequent flights from Istanbul. If you have events in Rize, Giresun, Gümüşhane or Artvin in the same period, combining shipments can simplify the plan.
Venue risks at a glance
| Venue | Main risk | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Plateau festival ground | Slope, mud, fog, no mains power | Levelled stage, ground plates, generator plus backup, smaller-vehicle transfer |
| City square | Tight access, crowds, rain | Agreed loading slot, barrier plan, roofed stage |
| Coastal open ground | Wind and rain | Wind monitoring, sheeting plan within manufacturer limits, protected cable routes |
| University campus | Last-minute weather changes | Parallel indoor fallback plan |
Timeline and next steps
For plateau festivals and summer concerts, lock the date and site ten to twelve weeks ahead; share survey information, ground photos and power details four to six weeks out; and confirm permits from the relevant municipality and competent authorities, security and the rain plan two to three weeks before the event. For the full scope we deliver, see stage rental Turkey and concert production Turkey.
Send your date, site and expected audience through our quote form, and we will prepare an itemised proposal for your Trabzon event, including the weather plan and transport from Istanbul.
